UMB Student to Join Exchange Program at National University of Nursing and Health Science, Taiwan

Bengkulu - Restu Rianti, a student of the English Education Study Program at Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu (UMB), has been selected to participate in an international student exchange program hosted by the National University of Nursing and Health Science (NUNHS) in Taiwan. The program is scheduled to begin in September 2025, offering Restu a unique opportunity to gain cross-cultural academic experience and broaden her global outlook.

The student exchange is part of UMB’s ongoing effort to internationalize its academic programs through strategic partnerships with universities across Asia. Restu will spend one semester at NUNHS, where she will be immersed in interdisciplinary courses, language exposure, and cultural engagement activities designed to strengthen her academic and personal development.

"This is a proud moment for UMB, especially for the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. Restu's selection proves that our students are capable of competing on an international stage," said UMB Rector, Dr. Sakroni, M.Pd., during an official announcement.

The National University of Nursing and Health Science, based in Miaoli, Taiwan, is renowned for its advanced curriculum in health education and its active involvement in international mobility programs. Although Restu comes from a non-health background, her placement underscores the flexible and interdisciplinary nature of the exchange scheme, focusing on English as a global language in professional health settings.

According to UMB’s Office of International Affairs, this exchange marks a growing trend in sending students not only to English-speaking countries but also to countries in East Asia with strong education systems. “We encourage our students to be adaptive learners and cultural ambassadors. Restu will play a key role in bridging educational ties between Indonesia and Taiwan,” said International Office Coordinator Ririn Putri Ananda.

Restu Rianti expressed gratitude and excitement ahead of her departure. “It’s a dream come true. I hope to not only grow academically, but also bring back knowledge that can benefit my peers and community,” she said.

UMB continues to expand its international partnerships under the Muhammadiyah Higher Education network, with plans to send more students to Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, and beyond in the coming semesters.
